Sula
Sula began nearly 25 years ago when designer Alison Taylor started selling jewel-toned silks from a beach stall in Brighton. Trained in fine art and a lifelong sewer, Alison developed the brand organically, creating clothing for herself and her friends before growing into a globally recognized label. Today, Sula operates from its own studio on the south coast of England, presenting collections in Paris, New York, Melbourne, and Sydney, and stocking in exclusive fashion boutiques worldwide—while still nurturing a devoted local following. Publications such as Selvedge have praised Sula’s distinctive use of color and intricate techniques like drawn thread and cut-work, produced by family-run workshops in Vietnam.
Rooted in slow fashion and fair trade principles, Sula is known for its ethical sourcing and artisanal craftsmanship. Alison personally visits the workshops and textile mills to ensure inclusive and humane practices. The garments are made from exceptional fabrics—peace silk, khadi cotton, washed Irish linen—and are finished by hand with quilting, embroidery, and subtle dyeing techniques. Sula emphasizes an aged, lived-in aesthetic, prioritizing comfort and longevity, with the hope that each piece becomes a cherished part of its wearer’s life.
